Tank

Hi guys!

I want to show you a tank that I'm building.

The Tank it self is a Sherman Firefly. This: "http://www.mainlyplanesntrains.com/images/Kits%20-%20Revell/03211.jpg" to be specific.

This is it's 'pedestal' so to speak. It is a small bridge with stone and the part of a bridge.

This is a first stage of painting it.

Here is the tank in itself before any painting:

After that I did some painting on the bridge.

The tank is still bare.

I'm using a small air gun for Base painting. After that I'm using a small brush for detail and a large one for dry washing.

I mixed the colors myself that's why they don't look professional. :)

After that I glued some sand and some flora onto the bridge to try and make it more life like.

And here is the bridge and the tank together.

I tried to look at real bridged to catch a color. The dirt looks pink because I messed up the Mix. :)

First I based it with the AirBrush black. After that I went over it with a dark color dark gray. Then again with a not so dark gray color. And then Drywashed it with a whitened gray color. This way the shadows are visible a bit. Also I did a white wash on the bricks and a Gray DryWash...

My technique is ofc that of a noobs.... But I enjoyed it and I'm learning a lot in the way.

Cheers!

Painting the terrian

Hi guys!

So yesterday i came around doing some paint job and adding grass.. I will talk about that in detail.

These are the results:

WTF
WTF
WTF
WTF
WTF
WTF
WTF

So let's get started.

The grass.

You remember i bought some tree-stratum. They were crap to be honest and then i saw something in a video that was an awesome idea. I took my mixer and chopped them into really small pieces. Than it came to me that maybe that's the point of them? I don't think so, but whatever this condests thing i got is awesome!!

I gonna be making trees using that stuff that's for sure.

Then the next thing i learned is watering down your wood glue and puring it into a fine dispenser. I do thing that i did not put enough glue into the mix, but i will experiment with the consistency later.

So After i painted the whole thing with watered down green i sprayed a lot of glue onto it. And i mean a lot!! :D

Then i took a strainer, poured the grass into it and begun to dispence the stuff onto it.

After i had a good coverage i sprayed another round of watered down glue on that thing so the tiny pieces are held together.

After that i waited for the morning and cleared the field.

As you can see i didn't do a very good job, since my river is still full of it, but i'll take care of that later.

So there you have it. That's all i've done. I think it comes along fine. :)

I do need to build a lot more trees also i need to do something with the border so it doesn't look like polyfoam.

Cheers,
Gergely.

Lessons Learned

So..

From my previous project i fucked up i learned quite a few lessons.

Maybe BECAUSE i fucked up. :)

1. Don't base paint with brown and then black :D
2. Always draw what you want to create. I know i wrote this already but i negleted it, and it got out of proportion and looks like a giant turd :P
3. Me and Paint and Glue are slowly becoming friends. :)
4. How to cut styrofoam properly. This one is really important. I thought i never would be able to cut that thing properly but i now know how. Thanks to this guy:

New Stuff

Hi!

I made a base for my miniature.

First of all.. It's to big.. Second. I base colored it with brown then black then green. Should have been black then brown then green. This way it seems to dark. Not green enough.

Need more little stones that's for sure.

And grass..

Pictures are coming up later i just wanted to get this out while it's in my head. :)

Cheers,
Greg.

Second Tree Finished

Hi Folks.

I finished my second tree...

Two things.

One: Painting is the easy part. I did one layer with black then one layer brown then did a few strokes with black. Ofc this could have been done much prettier but i will get into it eventually don't worry.

Second: Glue still is a problem. My tree looks like somebody with a really bad hairdo. Ofc this is also the result of not using copper wire or something more use full for building trees.

Conclusion. I still like this one better then the other one. :)
